Chinese New Year 2020

Hello readers! Wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year in 2020！

As we usually celebrate chinese new year for 15 days, so this is a consolidated post of my different gathering with relatives, family and friends!

This year is also the first time we are celebrating CNY at our new house. So unlike my mum who really put in 101% effort in chinese new year. I put in the bare minimum. Bought some simple chinese new year decor, but spring cleaning is a must so i have schedule on days such that it is not too tedious for us and clean every corner of our house to welcome the new year!

Bought some simple CNY goodies so that it doesn't look so empty even though i might not have many visitors coming over. Haha

JY told me i don't need to buy pineapple tarts as her mum is making so she give me 2, which is good!

During chinese new year, lao yu sheng is one of the tradition practise in many house, so i can't remember how many yusheng i have lao, but it was not limited to one!

Even though it was supposed to be a joyous occasion but during the eve of new year, Jeremy and i had a big fight, so we was suppose to be home at his parents house for reunion dinner, i was trying to do some last min cleaning so we can go out on time, as i have to work half day, so the schedule was quite tight so i was trying to ask him to stop using his phone and help out, and he refused to listen, so we ended up in a big fight, i never give in during quarrels so when he ask me to shut up, i talk loudly so that probably how our argument didn't ends and i was so mad and eventually i did everything myself, but i was not going to join him for the reunion dinner with his family.

It was so frustrating and i can't understand why one cannot just put down his phone and do whatever he need to do before using back the phone. He probably understand that i was not going to go back with him, so after our big fight, then he try to help out but too late cos i was so mad.

Eventually he went back to his parent house, while i complained to my parents so they came to pick me up in the evening and i went back to help them with all the praying etc.

The usual practice for my mum is to decorate the whole house with CNY decors.

With lots of cny goodies in the house.

After our usual praying which starts at 12am, dad bring us to Loyang temple to pray, it was less crowded as we reach around 1-2am. It was also the first time i came along with them. Haha

This year CNY angbao that i packed for the kids! I think i bought too much so there were extras.

After the praying, dad send me back home, by then i saw he was already sleeping like a dead log, initially i thought he won't return but he came back.

Haha and we was on cold war for at least 1 week plus ignoring each other existence. He went on with his own visiting while i went with mine. I went back home and play with Duffy!

Had my usual CNY day 1 feast!

As usual in the afternoon during CNY day 1, my relatives would come over and had steamboat dinner hosted by my parents.

In the past, we usually visit all our relatives day and try to squeeze everyone house in one day, but we realise its too taxing and because it usually is eating non stop. So our cousins decided to choose 2 house per year and it will be on rotate basis, so we just need to visit 1 house in the afternoon and 1 more in the evening til late.

This year is my 7th uncle house and evening was at my cousin house.

First stop at my uncle house! Haha he set up two tables for bbq and steamboat for us.  I like it when we just need to go and visit and eat. Hosting could be tiring. Haha

And evening time was gambling session at my cousin house!

We had our fair share of lao yusheng!

This year i only hosted once at my house with my colleagues! Haha, we had bbq steamboat dinner and gambling session again. They say its a good year for goat, but kinda bullshit cos i been losing money ok! tsk.

They was taking all sort of available stuff in my house to help them in winning. LOL

This year we was invited by Jeremy colleague house for CNY gathering, with lion dance performance. But it was a short one because Jeremy and his colleague had to attend some CNY gathering in the evening so we stay for awhile before he will join his colleagues, on the other hand, i have gathering with another group of friends. Luckily it was just nearby so i went to my friend house after that. Haha

I was the first one to reach Yuna house as usual. Hahahaha, she order all this feast for hosting!

As it was Day 8, I couldn't stay long so i left about 8plus as i need to go back my mum house to help my parents in praying. Only for hokkien dialect, they usually pray 天公 on CNY Day 9. Even though i married Jeremy and he is Teochew but this tradition has never end so far at my own family side.

My last gathering was on the last day of CNY, at Alex house. It was also the first time we visit his house for some board game session! He win all of our money this year, so next year i going to invite him to win back all the $$. Hahahaha.

Overall CNY has been fun in catching up with relatives and friends! As this CNY is pretty short, there was only like 2 weekends before it ends so i didn't manage to arrange meet up with many other group of friends but it's ok, we can catch up some other day!

JB Staycation Capri Fraser JB with JY

Hello readers!

With the chinese new year around the corner, JY and i decided to head in JB for a staycation to do our hair and nails for Chinese new year!

Initially i booked two room as my mum and sister is joining us.

But my mum decided not to join so my sister didn't want to stay so she join us to do her hair but we cancelled the room and JY and i went ahead with this trip.

This was our new hairdo shot after we were shopping around in Paradigm mall.

Before we went to get our hair fixed, we had a quick lunch at city square first.

As i bring along my luggage, i thought of checking if we can drop our luggage at the hotel first if we can't check in first.

This time i decided to book Capri Hotel since its a new hotel in JB.

We was lucky, the receptionist told us there was room available so we was able to check in to our room.

They have shuttle bus available for their hotel guests but since grab is pretty cheap we went to take a grab instead.

The room is beautiful and spacious and pretty affordable for their rate too! Our booking comes with breakfast too.

After that we went to KSL first, as we didn't book any appointment, the salon was quite full, so in the end my sister went to do at one of the salon while we decided to go holiday plaza to get our hair fixed!

But because it was during the chinese new year period, so most of the salon are quite full, and there was a clash for us to do our nails and hair so in the end JY went to do her nail first and i do my hair before we swop when she do her hair and i do my nails.

I did a simple one, cos i didnt see any design that i really like.

This was Jieying one, her is nicer as it involve alot of the art drawing on it.

After we were done with our nails, we went back to KSL and decided to have our dinner at one of the japanese restaurant!

After our dinner, we went to paradigm mall for some shopping~

I went to try out this outfit and i feel like this is the best outfit if im going to a zoo. Hahahaha

As shops usually closed by 10pm, we didn't want to go back early so we decided to catch a movie, the Ashfall.

The movie was good! Even though its close to 2hour and by the time we finish, it was already 1am++

As most of the door are locked, so we have to go by the side exit. I was calling for the grab and because we exit at their side door, so we ended up having to walk along their road pavement to get to the pick up point area. 

As i was looking at the phone to check the driver location while walking on the road at the same time, suddenly, i was pretty shocked when everything happen so quickly because i was tripped by a protruding stone on the road pavement and the next moment i realise i was lying flat on the ground.

It actually hurt quite badly after the fall and i couldn't get up immediately. And my face has some abrasion on the floor so the first thing after i try to sit up, was to touch my face (as observed by JY too) Hahahaha.

But at that moment, it was too painful for me to get up immediately, and both of my knee caps was bleeding. JY was pretty shocked and she try to help me, i rmb all my portable charger flung out from my bag so it was quite a huge impact.

I didnt sit down for long before i quickly get up as i know our grab driver should be arriving soon, so we started walking, but i feel so giddy and i feel like i was going to black out anytime soon.

So i stopped for awhile, JY was asking me if we want to go hospital. But i refused cos i know it's going to be so troublesome, and it was really just minor abrasions so i told her i rest at the side and she can help to check the grab driver has arrived.

The stupid driver was making noise as he couldnt find us, because we didn't manage to reach the pickup point. But i was resting at the side and the next moment when i open my eye, the car was right in front of me.

So during the journey, JY was asking if im ok, and i told her i am fine, i just need to rest and it will be ok.

As it was late and many shops are closed, so i thought we can only try our luck with the front desk to ask if they got any first aid kit antiseptic wash and cream for me to borrow.

We manage to borrow a few items and we went back to our room, so i was applying the antiseptic wash when my nightmare has not ended!

JY spotted my ring that i was still wearing on my finger, except the diamond is gone!

I was like OMG. It was the proposal ring Jeremy bought it for me, and because i am used to wearing that ring over the wedding bands, so i didn't change or take it off during our trip in JB.

My first moment was, omg, wtf, hais forget it. I mean the diamond is gone and how to find it back right?

I was going to just give it up even though the ring cost about 7-8k. 

But JY suggested why not we go back and start looking for it? Maybe there is a chance we could find it.

So, i was feeling better now without the giddiness, and i told her if she is ok, like dont mind if we go back again so she say she is ok, so we went back the same exact place, cos i remember the stone that tripped me, so we narrow our search to only that particular area, because it was the only possible area that i could think of when i fall down that the diamond could have drop.

The driver probably find us funny that we are going back to the mall which is closed, but we just told him that we are going back to take something.

After he let us alight, we walk back the same area, because there is not much lights, and because it is literally on the road, so we had to turn on our phone torchlight to start looking for it. JY and I was searching around for that bling diamond and this caught the security guards attention when they came over and ask what we were looking for, so we explain and they join us in our search. I am grateful for everyone efforts to help and find like in the middle of the night 2am liao! Haha

Luckily, it wasn't long before i spotted the shiny gem stucked in between the stone pavement.

It landed nicely and fit the gap between the stones, so i try to use my earring to pop it out and lucky i manage to retrieve it. God knows how thankful i am! Hahaha along the way back to the hotel, JY was telling me she was also praying for me that i could find the diamond.

That is also when i told her the price of the ring, so she got a shock, i didn't tell her beforehand because if i couldn't find it, no point to think about the price to buy the diamond ring anymore. It was really a blessing, i mean what are the chances you can find back the diamond that is flung out of my ring holder, on the road pavement, and it was so dark and we could still find it back.

I was just too thankful for it even though my knees was still aching with the abrasions.

I didnt check my knees injury when i first fall down because i know its bleeding and it will be ugly. The stone patch simply ink on my knee cap on my right knee so its like there is 9 dot on a monk head except mine is now 12 on my knee cap. The rest of the abrasion on my face and hands was still easy to deal with but i guess for the knee cap, it probably going to take super long to get the scar away.  

By the time we went back, shower etc and went back to sleep, it was already 3am. Haha one of my most happening night in JB, even though its pretty normal for me to sleep at 3am when i have staycation because we would catch late night movies or go ktv. But next time i think i going to walk properly at night.

The next morning, we went to have our breakfast at their restaurant. The food was still decent even though there is not much variety. 

As the hotel give us some free dining credits, so we order the in-room dining.

This was good!

After our breakfast, we went back to chill, packed our stuffs and check out of the hotel.

Overall, the room rates is quite reasonable, room are v comfortable and nice, but location wise, i still feel if you want to be near to the city square mall, Komtar, Amari JB is still my favorite choice because for Capri, we need to take grab to reach city square, and the surrounding has nothing except lots of construction site. But grab is not expensive so it is still worth to try this hotel.
