Praying of Chuangmu 床母

Hello readers! This is a post for my own record, with Kai now around 10 month, I feel he is relatively a manageable baby to take care since newborn, of cos during the first month he would wake up every 3 hour for milk, he doesn't need to be carried all the time, and sometimes when i get so tired, i would get him to self feed himself. Haha for eg, putting a cushion so he can drink from the bottle that is cushion. We also had his bad days too but so far i think it is still quite manageable.

Following my mum's advice, i am not sure if it also because we have been diligently praying to chuang mu 床母 so he was not too difficult to handle. So basically according to tradition, every bed will have a guardian that would take care of baby/kids. So when Kai turns 1 month, we started praying once every month on the same lunar date.

He doesn't really wake up every 3 month by the 2nd month, he would still wake up probably once every night but as long as we give him milk, he will drink and sleep back. 

So keeping as a record the item we used to pray for chuangmu, it is pretty easy. We need to prepare 12 pieces of incense paper and folded. This is like the so called 'salary' for the guardians. Haha

We will fold the 12 incense paper into the paper bag, remove all the pillow, blanket, and place the red tray that would contain like a bowl of rice and a hard boil egg, water, cutlery and one of our wedding light as shown in the setting below.

This bottle will be use to hold the joss stick when we pray to the chuangmu, for eg giving thanks for blessing our child, and praying they will continue to keep him well and safe and be able to sleep through the night etc. 

After we pray since kk was a newborn we will put him on the bed for awhile but not too long, probably 5 seconds. After that, we will burn the incense paper in the room and we can clear the item once the joss stick finish.

I think it is pretty subjective if you google there are many different way to praying the chuangmu but i think we choose a relatively simple and easy way since we have to pray till probably the kids goes to primary school.

This pretty much wraps up the sequence of praying the chuangmu, i shall end this post for now.
