Hello readers! It was going to be our last night at Kyoto. Our itinerary for the day was pretty relaxing because the weather was so cold and we was so comfortable in our air bnb so we left the apartment just before it was due noon to have our lunch.
The weather was quite cold and it started raining heavily too, in fact i think it rain the whole day, stopping before it start again.
We was heading to Kura Sushi, this affordable restaurant chain offers all kind of sushi for just 100 yen a plate! So, it's not entirely true when one tell you the food in Japan is expensive. You can still find cheap good ones! Beside having sushi for just 100 yen a plate, you get a chance to try the gachapoen, the toy capsule vending machine that is installed in every table in their restaurant!
We googled a day before the nearest outlet before using GPS to direct us to take the train before changing to a bus to the restaurant. As i was sorting my photos and realised i took a photo of the interior of the bus. Basically you only need to tap out or pay coins for the fare at the front when you are alighting. Remember to get your icoca card so you don't have to search for coins to pay for bus fare by tapping out!
Check out all the capsules machine in the restaurant. Hahaha.
Our order starts! All these for just 100 yen a plate!
Some selfie time to digest my food as i was already full..
Anyway to get a chance to try your luck in the gachapoen machine, if i don't remember wrongly, 5 plates that you insert as shown in the photo below entitle you a chance to see if you are lucky to get a toy!
Once you have insert 5 plates, they will start to play a short video
This video will show how the player almost shoot the ball inside but didn't so we didn't had any capsule drop out so we was guessing if we insert more dishes, eventually you will get a toy.
So it was an experiment, actually we were quite full already after having the first few plate but we eat more to get the chance to insert more plate back to see if our inference from the video were right.
Eventually, we are right! Hahahahaha. The capsule toy dropped out from the machine after we eat at least 15 plates of sushi.
The ones we had in Singapore usually you will take the whole plate and place it on your table, however for this restaurant, you need to press to get the cover open to get the plate. There were times my plates were drifting away on the conveyor belt from me and i still couldn't get it open! Haha
After our lunch, we was heading to Nara! I was excited to see for myself whether the deer will really bow to you in exchange for a biscuit! Phototaking in progress while waiting for our train to transfer~
Besides Kyoto, Nara has the richest collection of traditional sites in Japan. They have some of the best temples and shrines, museum, gardens and their deers! Hahahaha. It is famous for their great buddha at todaiji temple , kasuga-taisha shrine and their deers in nara koen park. I was particularly interested in their deers because i heard that the deers will bow to you to get a biscuit, due to time constraint, we didn't visit the shrines or gardens in Nara, but will visit it the next time!
From Kyoto station, it's about an hour train journey to Nara. Follow GPS and it's walking distance to the Nara Park. As you approach the park, you will get to see many other wild deers around. Hahaha this deer hiding behind the pillar. So cute! You get to watch them from afar as you walked, but most of them will be resting on the ground. There was even one moment where we was waiting for the traffic light and there was a deer just beside us! Hahahaha.
We bought this deer biscuit at 150 yen to feed them, but i would advise you to keep it in your bag first once you purchase because these deers are kinda scary. If they see you taking these biscuit, a group of them will start coming towards your direction.
This is what i mean when they see other tourists holding the biscuit, so when we went to the counter to purchase, i keep it in the bag before walking out because they are just standing around the counter.
Hahahaha, before the deer even bow, Jeremy start bowing first. I think Jeremy bow more than the deer.
This deer is damm cute, when we was leaving, it was following us as though she is sending us out.
This particular deer was following us about halfway as though she is sending us out. So i told Jeremy, let's take a selfie together with the deer before leaving
But the deers might get too aggressive so i would really advise not to show your biscuits the moment you purchase it, haha they will poke you when they know you have and not giving it to them.
Even though the deers seem intimidating with the biscuits, but overall there are some other cute deers and i think we will be back again next time while exploring their other tourist attractions sites!
It was raining non-stop so we didn't stay for long at the park before walking back to the station as there is some shops beside the station. However, it seems the shop closed rather early.
We had some takoyaki while exploring the shops, it's good! There were a small supermarket as well, items were rather cheap here compared to Kyoto and Tokyo!
We didn't stayed out too long as we was going to pack our luggage to prepare to check out next early morning back to Tokyo!
With that, shall end this post for now.
Till then.
